Dear Educators and Steel Band Enthusiasts,
The Steubenville Catholic Central H.S. Steel Band and Heavenly Metal Christian Steel Drum Band are excited to invite you to the 4th annual Ohio Valley Festival of Steel. The festival will feature performances by area steelbands, guest artist Tracy Thornton and a grand finale mass steel band.
The festival will be held at Catholic Central H.S. on Saturday, May 1st 2010 in Steubenville, Ohio.
Thank you to the Steubenville Catholic Central H.S. band boosters and their director Laura Jurasko for hosting this years event.
This event is open to the public so be sure to encourage your band parents and fans to come and enjoy the music, food and festival atmosphere.
Food concessions will be provided by the Catholic Central Band Boosters

Mission Statement: The Ohio Valley Festival of Steel is an annual event for steel drum bands in the tri-state area. The festival is an opportunity to share your bands current musical program in a single day festival setting. Each performance should last approximately 20 - 30 minutes. Each participating band will receive a commemorative plaque and also be invited to participate in the grand finale mass steel band performance. The main objective is for directors, students, moms and dads, and pan fans to come together to share, learn and enjoy the gift of music on the steel drum.
(Tracy Thornton BIO): LoveCat Music recording artist Tracy Thornton has been making his living as a professional steelpannist since 1995. He was the founder, leader and arranger for critically acclaimed “Been Caught Steelin’” and the nationally renowned “Sons Of Steel” which had been anointed “The Nation’s Most Exciting Steel Drum Band” during their four year run. Each group generated 2 CD releases that Tracy produced himself and co-produced “Sons Of Steel’s” Carpe Diem title with world-renowned pannist Andy Narell. For more info see website: tracythornton.com
